Make a mark at the cap s lower edges both sides at one end of the ridge. To cut it i just snip through and it bends. Next i ll remove the hip cap get our z trim cut them to length and install them. See the illustration below.

We use a z trim and make sure to have tape seal underneath the z trim and between the ridge cap and the top of the z. Build the lower rim of roof extended away from the fascia. You use your ridge cap to mark the ribs so that you know where to place the z trims. By installing corrugated metal roof drip edge it will be easier for that mass to move down or be removed.

I m going to mark the z trim cut it and install it so that we can install the end wall trim using stitch screws. The extension should be at least inch for it to work.
