Dean and i are both in our early 30s and after two years of dating are ready to get married and start a family. My parents refuse to pay for a wedding for me and i don t think it s fair. I asked for them to just give me the same amount of money they paid for my sister s wedding which was about 10 000. In a practical sense i m glad they won t be there but i m having a hard time dealing with the idea that i m going to be the girl whose parents don t come to her wedding.

I would like for my family to be involved in the planning they are really easy going and not the type who care what other people think they just want me to be happy which i m so thankful for. I don t know anyone who plans on paying for their wedding entirely on their own and i would have been beyond stunned if my parents didn t help me pay for the bulk of my wedding since they have wanted to since i was an infant yes i understand this is a privilege if it is common in your circle too i can see this feeling like a big burn. Well from the beginning my parents said they will help with the wedding my dad said he d pay for 2 000 00 of it. It took me a while to meet a man i wanted to marry.

I didn t and don t expect for his parents to chip in at all it would be nice but it s not expected i just wanted them to help out in small things that don t cost money because of the fact that they don t have that much. Because while parents may be obligated to pay to house you clothe you feed you and raise you as a kid as an adult they re not obligated to pay for anything let alone your wedding. Dealing with parents who can but won t attend the wedding of their child is not only a difficult emotional trial for the couple but can present challenges for the wedding vendors and guests. My parents think i m too old for them to be paying for my wedding.
